Many dog owners are looking forward to coming home after work because their dog greets them excitedly by jumping and barking. They are under the assumption that their dog shows love for them.
This is not the case! The dog is behaving like this because he is trying to tell you that he is lonely, bored and that their needs as a dog are not being met. This excitement is your dog’s way of burning off the excess energy that has been building up all day long.
Dogs have different emotions than humans. They are dogs after all. To love a dog means you need to treat him like an animal, which means meeting his needs as nature intended for him.
Excessive barking can be really unnerving and no matter what you try, the dog will not stop. This is your dog’s way of sending you a distress signal. Somewhere his needs as a dog are not being met.
So ask yourself: Are you the pack leader who projects calm, assertive energy? Are you walking with him every day, which exercises his body and his mind? Is he living a balanced life?
