The most common mistake dog owners make in their relationships with dogs is treating them like people. Imagine a horse. Would you interact with that horse the same you interact with your sister? Of course not! So why do humans insist on treating dogs like people?
Do you really believe that your dog will stop tearing up the couch if you plead with him, love on him some more, or show him more affection? This might work in human relationships, but not for your dog or any animal that I know.
Loving your dog means treating him like a dog. He needs a stable pack leader to lead a balanced and happy life. Bear in mind, it’s us humans that make these relations complicated, not the dogs.
