Complete Cat Care

Complete Cat Care

When you plan to bring in a cat as a pet, a little reading up on the complete care of cats is really helpful. It is important to do this even before bringing the cat into your home, as you need to take a few vital decisions. The first thing you need to decide is whether you want an outdoor cat or an indoor cat, or maybe you want both. Then you need to decide a place for its litter box, its toys, its bedding and the brand of cat food you would want to buy for your cat.

Once you are done with all these decisions it is time for the new arrival to become a part of your cozy family. The very first thing you need to do is take your new pet to a good vet. Your little companion requires a few vaccinations and de-worming medications. All these services do not come cheap and this is where pet insurance comes in handy. From the very start you need not worry about the medical expenses involved in the proper health care of you much loved cat.

In fact the way you treat your pets, reflects on your personality. Your attitude towards your pet cat can easily reveal your basic temperament and attitudes. Everyone likes a healthy, clean and sociable cat. Your little efforts can turn your cat into a truly adorable feline friend.

You must spare some time for training your cat as it leads to a richer and stronger relationship between the cat and the master. It even builds a better understanding between you and your pet. Many people assume that a cat cannot be trained, which is in fact quite baseless.

All you need to do is do some research about training methods, eating habits, cat grooming and cat insurance The time and patience you invest in doing so can reward you with a healthier and happier cat..

The Dog Walker

The Dog Walker

Taking the advice of one of the counselors at the weight loss clinic near my home, I went to the local SPCA and volunteered to walk their dogs this would help me fulfill my exercise requirement. I had grown up with pets my entire life and knew that I would one day have another dog; but I was a single woman living in an apartment building that did not allow for pets. I remember the day I drove into the parking lot of the local SPCA – I was nervous. Why would I be nervous you ask? Would I be accepted as a volunteer? What would it take to be come a dog walker? These were questions that I had to ask before volunteering.

As I walked in through the glass door to the SPCA office I noticed the many posters adverting for Pet insurance and pop up display stands promoting pet adoption. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the receptionist. When I told her that I was interested in the Walk a dog program, she handed me a form to fill out. It was a standard application form. When volunteering for this program, I found out from the 5 minutes of training I received that there is a mandatory commitment of an initial six Saturdays of dog walking. I signed up immediately.

I was then taken into the back area past the cat kennels to an outdoor section of about 20 cages with two medium or large dogs per cage. On an average Saturday there were anywhere from 5 to 15 dog walkers. We were instructed to take one of the leashes from the hooks just outside the kennel area before we were introduced to the dogs.

I was introduced to a beautiful blond golden retriever named Chester. Chester was a year old, apparently because of allergies in the home, her owners were forced to give her up. She was extremely well behaved and took well to the leash. We became fast friends. It was obvious by the way she walked by my side, her owners had successfully taught her obedience. I soon became Chester’s regular dog walker and every Saturday I looked forward to our walks together. One Saturday, I arrived to walk Chester to find out that she had been adopted. Although I was happy that Chester had found a family to love her, I was saddened that I wouldn’t see her again. During my time with the SPCA, I walked a lot of wonderful dogs but I will never forget the connection that I felt with Chester. Volunteering for the SPCA was a very happy time for me and I encourage those who loves animals, especially dogs to volunteer as a dog walker.

Cats and Their Owners

Cats and Their Owners

Cats has nine lives… now where did that come from? Cats are one of the most aristocratic and clean creatures with attitude in the world being the Farao’s pets for centuries! They come in different breeds and colors and make a beautiful gift because they are very loveable and sensitive.

I also am a cat-lover and mine thinks he is a dog. Every time that I receive a visitor he goes to the gate to greet them and sometimes nibble on their pants or ankles. Cats need a lot of attention and love. Grooming your pet everyday is very essential since cat hair will become stuck to your furniture and clothes if it does not receive a regular bath and brushing. If you do not have time for this you can take your pet to a pet salon. Every pet owner should consult a vet on the dietaries on his pet. Cats love fish, meat and milk on a daily basis. Recommended dietary doses for your cat depending on how big or small he is will be prescribed by your vet. Tinned pet food is also very palatable for your pets health but then you must get a soft toothbrush and brush its teeth daily to prevent tooth decay.

Cats love to be stroked and you will easily hear your cat starting to purr. I love to hear my pet purr cause its also a way to tell you that he is happy and content with the situation around him. Cats needs lots of attention and exercise since most of them enjoy the outdoor life it is a necessity to give them the extra stimulation. Ping pong balls, wool or a plastic mouse on wheels are also means of exercise if your cat prefer indoor life. Cat owners should also get a scratch pole for the cat which will help keep your cat’s claws short and save your furniture from any damages. Providing your cat a small cushion and basket in a quiet sunny room to sleep in will be an added bonus for him since two thirds of his live he use for sleeping.

Love and take care of your pet and he will thrive on the attention! Cat insurance plays a vital part in your pet’s life and cat lovers should really think about it to get their pet a cat insurance policy which will protect you from unforeseen veterinary costs that might occur. Whenever you cat gets sick or something happens to him it will be very assuring to know that most medical costs will be covered by the insurer. The best thing is to first get a number of quotes to study and make sure that it supply all your cats needs.

Why Have Dog or Pet Insurance?

Why Have Dog or Pet Insurance?

A pet especially a dog is as much a part of the family as any other family member. They can become companions, friends and even mascots. I once visited a commercial property in east london where the dog came with the tenenacy agreement! The owner of the commercial property passed away, and to ensure the well being of the dog tied it into the rental contract, so mush did he love his pet!

Dog owners have to face harrowing choices when their beloved pets become sick. They invariably have to pay through their nose for the expensive medical treatments and bringing up a dog is no easy task. Even without medical expenses pets can be expensive to rear with you having to take care of their food, grooming etc. Medical costs will only increase with time and to be insured against this continuous rise in cost is a good choice. Pet insurance companies have grown in number for quite some time and you need to search for companies with good credentials. Talking to vets and pet care professionals is a good idea as they will be able to recommend some of the companies which have a sufficiently good track record.

As a diligent dog owner you must at all times possess the list of accredited dog care hospitals and veterinary clinics covered under the dog insurance policy. If you possess the name of top veterinarians along with their phone numbers, that would also help. Once properly insured the companies will cover the cost for radiographic exams, laboratory and medical fees and surgery. As with normal insurance, dog insurance has a prescribed period before it is approved so the pet should be enrolled as soon as possible. There is another hidden benefit of getting insurance early. You get to interact with the officials of the company and if you don’t like the work culture or their offerings you could always get an existing policy cancelled and move to another company well in time for your dog to avail all the benefits. Young dogs are more prone to illness as they develop. So get them enrolled as pups and you will not have to deal with mounting pet care bills.
