What They Don’t Tell You About Dog Insurance

What They Don’t Tell You About Dog Insurance

Dog Insurance! Did I hear you say, not for my dog? While it’s good to picture these faithful friends in the best of health always, it’s better to plan for contingencies, especially in difficult times like these. Veterinary health care has advanced almost as much as human medicine and so there are many new ways to help your pet live a longer and healthier life. But pet care hasn’t become cheaper. In fact, these sophisticated procedures can leave your wallet much lighter.

Enter dog insurance! As a pet crazy nation, the UK has a lot of dog insurance companies like PetCare Pet Insurance, Pet Assureâ„¢, Petplan Veterinary Pet Insurance, ShelterCare Pet Insurance, UK Pet Insurance, Union Plus etc. Most dog insurance companies will pay for the vet costs for illness or injury, some even for death or theft.

But insurance for dogs has its share of jargon and fine print. So before putting your money down you need to ask some questions:

  • Does the insurance also cover flea control, vaccination or castration?
  • What about any treatment which began before the policy?
  • Can you go to any vet and get a reimbursement?
  • What happens if your pet damages someone’s property?
  • Will the cover include kennel costs for your dog, if needed?
  • Doesn’t the company cover hereditary problems? Most don’t. Though some like Embrace Pet Insurance do.

There will be deductibles and co-pays to determine how much you need to shell out annually. And of course, the older your dog is the more you have to pay. The higher the premiums the better the cover, but you need to keep in mind how much you can pay. Read thoroughly the discounts and plans the company has, to get the best deal for your dog and your wallet. Remember, rabies, canine distemper and permanent disability of any nature is excluded by most companies.

So, go ahead and insure you dog. But, remember to research dog insurance well before committing yourself.

Insure Your Pet Cat And Keep It Secure

Insure Your Pet Cat And Keep It Secure

When we choose a kitten as our pet, it becomes part of our family. We love it and it loves us back. It is really very touching and satisfying when your pet cat rubs itself against you or begins purring out of love and satisfaction.

We have to remember that cats like any other pet are also susceptible to infections, to accidents and to illnesses. They too need medical aid at such times. If a pet cat falls down the stairs and hurts her legs or if she slips while jumping, or if she has an accident, the family will suffer with her and cannot really bear to see her suffer. They would need to take her to a veterinarian for necessary treatment. And vets do charge for treating animals. Sometimes the vet’s charges may be more than a human doctor’s simply because the pet cat or any other animal for that matter cannot speak and the vet has to spend time and effort to probe and find out why the cat is in pain or where she is hurt.

To cover the vet’s charges it is necessary to buy insurance for the cat. Buying cat insurance is just like buying human insurance. There are several companies offering insurance and you have to research and find out the ones which give the most benefit for the least premium.

Cat insurance companies like Healthy Pets, or PetCare (and there are many more) vie with each other in offering various facilities. They may offer monthly direct debiting for free or they may offer free or discounted premiums with the second year of buying insurance from their company. You should read the policy properly , get different quotes and carry out research, talk to people who have already bought pet insurance and then go ahead with the company that suits you the best.

Keeping Your Pet Warm with Dog Coats

Keeping Your Pet Warm with Dog Coats

On the surface, it would seem silly that a person would buy a dog coat. Why would a dog need a coat when nature has already equipped it with fur? And yet, one must assess if fur is always the best defense, especially in extremely cold weather. Maybe longer-haired dogs could take it, but if a dog has short hair or even no hair, there really is no need to to consult with any type of fashion PR, however, a manmade dog coat is not really a bad idea.

In addition, dog coats tend to be really stylish. For female pets, there are dog coats that are pink and frilly– assuming that’s the type of persona you want your dog to represent. If you would prefer something more neutral, you could opt for the designs often given for male dogs, which include basic leather coats or plain-colored cotton jackets.

Of course, don’t think that there aren’t more ‘masculine’ designs for the male dog. Consider the dog coats designed with a motorcycle or military themes. Such designs are a perfect choice for dogs belonging to men interested in those types of things. I remember following the release of the Pirates of the Carrabean, there were a series of tresure hunt dog coats that flooded the market for a short period of time.

There are even designer dog coats, which are crafted with the finest materials around. Granted, they are a bit more expensive than regular dog coats, but at least you know the coat will last a long time. Plus, since they tend to be designed by some of the world’s top fashion designers, you know they’re going to look good. The same is not always true for some of the cheaper dog coats out there.

In conclusion, dog coats can be invaluable for your pet. They provide warmth while giving your pet a sense of style. In fact, depending on how fashionable you are, you could consider coordinating your coat with theirs. That way, both you and your dog would be walking down the street in style.
