Having a cat around is so much easier than a dog. Dogs are constantly in need of attention. They want you to groom them, play with them, take them for walks, take them outdoors and move over at night so they can sleep with you.
Cats on the other hand are a totally different species. Cats are independent and require very little attention. The only thing you really need to do with them is provide them with food and water, a couple toys and a litter box. Every once in awhile you can pet them or cuddle with them and let them know that you love them, but other than that, they walk their own world, there is no reason for you to put on running clothing to go and walk it with them. Now that is exactly how a pet should be in my opinion.
