Once you have a puppy in your household you will also need to socialise him or her to the world. This is done in order to make them fearless of situations that are new to them, things, sounds, animals and people too. Their overall comfort in the world and their emotional well being will in part depend on how well they are socialised as a puppy. Here are some tips on how to socialise your puppy.
You can get your puppy used to people by having a get together with friends. This way you pup will be around different kinds of people, with some of them likely to be loud, quiet, friendly, and unfriendly. You should also have your pup introduced to people who wear hats, are tall or short, and even persons in mask. Simply get them around people in general so that they are used to the as many differences as possible.
You should also take them along with you when you go for rides in your car. This will help them greatly in becoming a good traveller while they are young. Be sure that you make these socialisation experiences as positive as possible. Should your puppy have a negative or frightening experience then reintroduce that thing or person to the pup slowly, and if necessary offer them treats as part of the socialisation.
You can start you pup getting used to grooming by touching different parts of their body. Try opening their mouths, play with their ears, or run your fingers through their fur.
By having your puppy experience as many things as possible and using positive reinforcement you will surely have them well socialised quickly.
