The best guard dog I ever had weighed five pounds

The best guard dog I ever had weighed five pounds

When someone is searching for a guard dog they usually look for large, loud dogs. People often think that they are most protected by a dog that is almost as big as they are. I believed this too until I got a Jack Russell Terrier. Jack Russell’s are very cute and adorable. They have a lot of energy and will run you until you drop but it is well worth it for the undying devotion they will give to you. I lived in a rural area and there were deer that were living on the side of my house. A doe had given birth to two fawns.

My son was outside playing and went over to the side of the house to get the ball he had kicked in the woods. Unknown to us the doe and her fawns were laying just beyond the tree line. Breeze, my Jack Russell heard them and went barreling across the yard to the tree line. My son fell as she ran by. Next thing you know the two fawns came running out of the woods. Then their mother and Breeze, came running out next. Breeze is going after the doe as she is on her back legs pawing at her.

Breeze got hit only once and curled up in a fetal position as the deer kept raising herself onto her back legs and falling back down to the ground to stomp on Breeze. I got the hose and sprayed the deer while trying to keep my son from running to help Breeze. The deer ran off into the woods. Breeze got up and ran to my son to make sure he was okay. Breeze was so small that the doe could not aim her hoof well enough to crush her. Had my son gone into those woods that doe would have crushed him and probably killed him. Breeze saved my sons life and she weighed only five pounds. That was the best guard dog I have ever seen.

The 5 Best Foods For Your Parrot

The 5 Best Foods For Your Parrot

Feeding your pet parrot the proper foods can prove the difference between a happy, healthy bird, and a bored, melancholy bird. Here is a list of the best five foods to feed your parrot, but whatever food you choose, it is important to remember that your parrot, like most people, crave variety in their diets.

1. Seeds. The standard bird feed should be a daily stable in your parrot’s diet, perhaps around 30 per cent of your bird’s diet. Remember that seeds are very high in fat, so try not to overdo it in this department. When looking for bird seeds, try to find the highest quality possible.

2. Pellets. Pellets are a great alternative to seeds. They are equally as healthy and they offer a treat for your bird, especially if you select a pellet brand that comes in different shapes and colours. Pellets are a great way to introduce new foods to a parrot that is reliant on seeds. Just remember to keep them in a cool and dry storage unit so they dont go off early.

3. Vegetables. A great way to keep your parrot happy and healthy. We all know the nutritional importance of vegetables, and this extends to your pet bird. Carrots, celery, and lettuce are excellent choices, but you may want to chop up the vegetables into bite sized pieces, or you may even want to boil them first.

4. Grains. Whole grain bread and brown rice are amongst the favourites for most parrots. They offer a fun alternative to seeds and pellets and will open you parrot to new foods in the future. Try to avoid giving your bird too many grains; perhaps once a week is a good idea.

5. Fruits. Birds love all fresh foods, especially fruits and vegetables, and like vegetables, you will want to cut up the fruit (apples, pears, peaches, strawberries) into smaller bite sized pieces so that they won’t intimidate your parrot.
